An off-screen image of the next Assassin's Creed game has leaked into the net, and it appears to confirm that as rumoured, the game will be set in Ancient Egypt.

Three separate Eurogamer sources have confirmed the image is legitimate.

It was posted to Reddit by an account called "shoutouttoashraf" – likely a reference to Ubisoft's Ashraf Ismail, who according to his Twitter bio, is game director on an unannounced project.

He previously worked on Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

Over the weekend, it was reported that the next Assassin's Creed game is called Assassin's Creed Origins, that it takes place in Ancient Egypt, and that it is larger and less linear than prior Assassin's Creed games.

Players will be able to sail as far away as Greece, there will be naval combat, and there are apparently two protagonists – a man and a woman.
